Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable in which tear property of a sheath by notches formed on the sheath can be secured, and mechanical characteristics can also be secured.SOLUTION: In an optical fiber cable which is formed by covering the outer periphery of a core assembly 11 which stores many optical fibers 14 with a sheath 16, and has a plurality of notches 17 for tearing the sheath along the longitudinal direction on the outer surface of the sheath, the remaining sheath thickness T from the bottom of the notches 17 to the sheath inner surface is 0.5 mm or more; and when a cross section of a sheath part 16a which is sandwiched between the adjacent notches is S (mm2), and tear force F when the sheath part which is sandwiched between the notches is torn is 30-70(N), F/S=2.8-6.5(N/mm) is satisfied. Moreover, when an opening angle of the notches 17 is (°), T* ≤40 (mm*°) is satisfied, and the sheath 16 preferably consists of low density polyethylene.
