PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly execute a reduction in driving force through a driving force limiting process even when a failure occurs in a position detecting device detecting an operating position of a shift mechanism.SOLUTION: The device includes: the shift mechanism; and the position detecting device detecting an operating position of the shift mechanism on the basis of an output signal of a shift position sensor. An execution mode is set on the basis of the operating position that is detected by the position detecting device (S302), and the driving force limiting process (S108) is executed on the basis of the execution mode and an accelerator operation amount (S105). When occurrence of a failure in the position detecting device is determined (S301: YES) in a state that the driving force limiting process is not executed (S104: YES), setting of the execution mode on the basis of the operating position of the shift mechanism is prohibited (the process of S302 is jumped), and execution of the driving force limiting process is allowed on the basis of the vehicle operation state.
