Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively and consistently reduce and/or eliminate reflux of fluid back into a syringe upon this release of pressure on a plunger rod when positive displacement of fluids from the syringe (for example, into any inserted catheter) after a stopper has been bottomed in a syringe barrel and force is released from the plunger rod.SOLUTION: A stopper (12) adapted for attachment with a plunger rod (14) for use within a syringe barrel (16) is disclosed. The stopper includes a body (26) defining an open rearward end (28) and a closed front end (30). The open rearward end is adapted to receive a front forward end attachment portion (31) of the plunger rod. The stopper also includes a core member (32) integrally formed with the body adjacent to the closed front end. The core member includes a nose portion (34) having a profile adapted to create a positive seal with an outlet opening of the syringe barrel. |
