Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner in which a dust collecting chamber can be downsized by solidifying dust.SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a dust collecting chamber 15 for collecting dust, a humidity controlling means 27 provided with a suction port 28 and an exhaust port 29 and including a moisture absorption and desorption material 36, a first communication path 31 for communicating the dust collecting chamber 15 with the suction port 28, and a second communication path 32 for communicating the dust collecting chamber 15 with the exhaust port 29, and by making the temperature of the first communication path 31 be lower than the temperature of the second communication path 32, highly humid air is supplied from the exhaust port 29 through the second communication path 32 to the dust collecting chamber 15, and the dust collected in the dust collecting chamber 15 is soft and expands to be entangled and gathered with one another. Thereafter, when the humidity controlling means 27 is cooled, the moisture absorption and desorption material 36 absorbs moist steam from the dust collecting chamber 15 and the dust through the first communication path 31 and the second communication path 32. As a result, the dust is dried by evaporating the moisture and is thus solidified in a gathered shape, and growth of mold and bacteria included in the dust is suppressed.
