Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a binder resin which makes possible to obtain a slurry with good thixotropy; a slurry composition with the binder resin; a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery electrode with the slurry composition; and a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery with the electrode.SOLUTION: The binder resin for a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery electrode is intended to be used in a slurry composition for a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary battery electrode including a binder resin, an active material and an organic solvent as the binder resin. The binder resin comprises a polymer having a vinyl cyanide monomer unit. The binder resin is dissolved in the organic solvent to prepare a liquid solution with a concentration of 5 mass%. As a result of measurement on the particle size distribution according to dynamic light scattering, the binder resin meets the following inequality: 0.05≤I/I, where Irepresents a sum total of scattering intensities observed in a particle diameter range of 1 to 100000 nm, and Irepresents a sum total of scattering intensities observed in a particle diameter range of 1 to 100 nm.
