Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of requiring a time for access because there is the needs of accessing an information layer to read the type thereof and then, selecting a method for generating a tracking error signal corresponding to the type of the information layer each time an accessed information layer is changed when performing reading and writing with a compatible optical disk device corresponding to a plurality of optical disk standards because the type of a certain information layer is not recorded in another information layer in an optical disk in which an information layer of a plurality of different optical disk standards is multi-layered on one disk.SOLUTION: In an optical disk with an information layer of a plurality of different optical disk standards multi-layered in one disk, a type of a certain information layer is recorded in another information layer. When a compatible optical disk device corresponding to the plurality of optical disk standards performs reading and writing, a tacking error signal generation method is selected on the basis of information recorded in another information layer to shorten an access time.
