PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ethanol by using lignocellulosic biomass as a raw material and a device for producing ethanol, while without using special equipment, increasing the ethanol concentration in fermentation broth obtained in a fermentation process to reduce the distillation load.SOLUTION: By returning a part of the fermentation broth after completing the fermentation process to a saccharification process, ethanol is incorporated in the saccharification liquid supplied from the saccharification process to the fermentation process, and as a result, the increase of the ethanol concentration in the fermentation broth at the completion of the fermentation process can be possible. Further, the prevention of the propagation of sundry bacteria in the fermentation vessel (including the inside of the saccharification vessel when the saccharification process is used in the enzyme method) is enabled by the ethanol.
