PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for sintering a sintered compact such as an easily oxidizable material, particularly, a metal sintered compact, particularly, a dental frame workpiece.SOLUTION: The device 10 includes: a tray 18 storing a sintered compact and provided on a base plate 14; a pan-shaped cover 16 having an edge part 36, which is sealed to the base plate, and surrounding the tray; and an opening part 38 for feeding a protective gas also used as an opening part for exhausting a protective gas, which is connected to an internal space 30 surrounded by the pan-shaped cover. The tray 18 is covered with a capping element 20 so that sintering may be practiced without problems even if temperatures is >1,200°C, and the internal space 34 of the tray is connected to the internal space of the cover with a gas flow when the capping element 20 covers the tray.
