Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light detection element capable of estimating the temperature of an object by detecting an electromagnetic wave radiated from the object.SOLUTION: A first electrode layer is disposed on a substrate, and a first active layer is disposed on the first electrode layer. The first active layer includes a first barrier layer and a plurality of first quantum dots which are distributed in the first barrier layer and have a band gap narrower than that of the first barrier layer. A second electrode layer is disposed on the first active layer. A second active layer is disposed on the second electrode layer. The second active layer includes a second barrier layer and a plurality of second quantum dots which are distributed in the second barrier layer and have a band gap narrower than that of the second barrier layer. A third electrode layer is disposed on the second active layer. First quantum dots are larger in the number than the second quantum dots.
