Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary kiln that can regulate the movement of an agitation member in the shaft direction in a core pipe.SOLUTION: The rotary kiln 1 includes: the cylindrical core pipe 4 which is arranged substantially horizontally, rotates around the shaft of itself and has the nonmetallic inner surface; the agitation member 73 which is stored in the inside of the inner surface of the core pipe 4, rotates in accordance with the rotation of the core pipe 4 and has the nonmetallic outer surface; a nonmetallic contact part which is fixed to the core pipe 4 directly or indirectly, rotates integrally with the core pipe 4, comes into contact with the outer surface of the agitation member 73 and, thereby, regulates the movement of the agitation member 73 in the shaft direction; and pressing members 5, 6 having a through-hole which penetrates itself in the shaft direction and permits the passage of an object W to be treated.
