Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound insulation board that economically and effectively exerts excellent sound insulation performance with no sound insulation deficiency from a low sound area to a high sound area and a method for insulating sound.SOLUTION: This sound insulation board includes a gypsum board A (11) and a gypsum board B (12) as follows. On one side of the gypsum board A, the gypsum board B whose thickness is 65 to 85% of that of the gypsum board A is superposed and used. The gypsum board A: a board-like core material includes 99 mass% or more of gypsum dehydrate and 1 mass% or less in total of water reducing agent and other additives; neither inorganic filler nor reinforcing fiber is substantially contained; and the specific gravity is 0.65 to 0.75. The gypsum board B: a board-like core material includes 100-250 pts.mass of barium sulfate per 100 pts.mass of gypsum dehydrate as an inorganic filler; these are included therein at 95 mass% or more in total, and ≤3 mass% of a water reducing agent and other additives are included therein in total; the board-like core material also includes ≤2 mass% of other inorganic fillers and reinforcing fibers; and the specific gravity is 1.20 to 2.00.
