Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the voltage of a battery that uses calcium ions as carriers.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous battery 10 according to the present invention includes a positive electrode 13 containing a carbon material, a negative electrode 12 containing metallic calcium or a calcium alloy, and a nonaqueous ion-conducting medium 18 intervening between the positive electrode 13 and the negative electrode 12 to conduct calcium ions, and containing an interhalogen compound. The interhalogen compound in the nonaqueous battery 10 may be one or more of trichloride iodide, monochloride iodide, tribromide iodide, monobromide iodide, and the like. The ion-conducting medium 18 may contain one of propylene carbonate and trimethyl phosphate in which at least one of calcium perchlorate and calcium bis(pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide is dissolved as a supporting electrolyte. |
