Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous substance useful for efficiently adsorbing siloxanes to remove them, a siloxane removing agent or (adsorbent) constituted of the porous substance, and a filter useful for removing siloxanes (or a gas sensor equipped with the filter).SOLUTION: The porous material is constituted by adding and applying a sulfonic group modified metal oxide sol to a porous material and adsorbing siloxanes on the porous material. The sulfonic group modified metal oxide sol modified by a functional group preferably represented by formula (1) HOS(=O)-R-Si(CH)(-O-)[wherein R is a 1-10C alkylene group (wherein a urethane bond or a urea bond may be contained in the alkylene chain) and n is 0 or 1] is added and applied to the porous material.
