PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum-type washing machine that detects electric conductivity of a detergent to achieve energy saving.SOLUTION: The drum-type washing machine comprises: a rotating drum 4; a water tank 3 accommodating the rotating drum; a motor 5 rotationally driving the rotating drum 4; a detergent storing unit 6a for storing a detergent; a water supply passage 6b connecting between the detergent storing unit 6a and the water tank 3; electric conductivity detecting means 31 arranged on a side of the detergent storing unit 6a of the water supply passage 6b; input setting means 58 to which a washing duration, the number of times of rinsing and others are individually set; and controlling means 51 for controlling a series of processes by controlling the motor 5 and others. The controlling means 51 detects electric conductivity of the detergent flown to the electric conductivity detecting means 31 after a predetermined duration from the input of the liquid detergent to the detergent storing unit 6a. When it is determined that the electric conductivity is higher than a predetermined value, the controlling means 51 controls the process so as to reduce the washing duration and the number of times of the rinsing, thereby allowing reduction in time and water consumption to achieve energy saving.
