Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric machine in which the number of windings can be decreased, and the amount of permanent magnets used can also be decreased.SOLUTION: A plurality of pole pieces 13 arranged along a permanent magnet array 23 while spaced apart from each other configure a pole piece array 15. The permanent magnet array 23 has a relationship of not moving with respect to the windings 19A-19C. The pitch τp of a plurality of permanent magnets 21 and the pitch τs of a plurality of pole pieces 13 are determined so that a magnetic flux flows through two permanent magnets 21 magnetized in the same direction and located to every other in the permanent magnet array 23, and one or two pole pieces 13 interposed between the two permanent magnets 21 while being magnetized in a magnetization direction different from that of the two permanent magnets 21 and facing the permanent magnets 21.
