Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of efficiently cooling the whole surface of an optical element with a small flow rate.SOLUTION: A projector 1 comprises a cooling device 4 for circulating a cooling fluid along the surface of an optical element 35. The cooling device 4 comprises: two first discharge parts PL2, PL3 and second discharge parts PL1, PL4. Supposing the optical element 35 is virtually divided into a center side area ArO including a location where an optical axis Ax passes and an outer peripheral side area ArE other than the center side area ArO as seen from a direction along the optical axis Ax of light flux which is incident to the optical element 35, the first discharge parts PL2, PL3 discharge a cooling fluid to the center side area ArO and the second discharge parts PL1, PL4 discharge the cooling fluid along the outer peripheral side area ArE.
