Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a restraining direction of the waist of an occupant by a waist fitting portion of a belt section.SOLUTION: An occupant restraining mechanism 10 rotates a winding shaft 36 with normal-rotation drive of a motor 44 in a normal direction upon the prediction of a vehicle collision, and webbing 22 is rewound around the winding shaft 36 from vehicle rear side, so that the wrap belt section of the webbing 22 is pulled toward vehicle rear side and the waist of an occupant is restrained in the horizontal direction. Meanwhile, when vehicle rollover is predicted, the winding shaft 36 is rotated in the opposite direction by reverse drive of the motor 44 and the webbing 22 is rewound around the winding shaft 36 from the vehicle front side, so that the wrap belt section of the webbing 22 is pulled to vehicle lower side and the waist of the occupant is vertically restrained. Thus, the waist of the occupant can be appropriately restrained to meet the type of a predicted emergency state of the vehicle.
