Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a temperature of a rotor without mounting a measuring instrument on the rotor.SOLUTION: A rotor protection monitoring device for a brushless synchronous generator 4 configured to supply an excitation current to the rotor under the control of an AVR 10 includes a rotor temperature detection unit 21 which receives an output voltage and an output current of the synchronous generator 4, an output current of the AVR 10, and an output of a temperature detector 6, and has a data storage unit 23. The data storage unit 23 finds a saturation value of a rotor temperature, based upon the output voltage and output current of the synchronous generator 4 and the output current of the AVR 10 as parameters, and a thermal time constant through previous measurement, and stores them as pattern data, and a rotor temperature detection part 21 finds a saturation value of a rotor temperature and a thermal time constant by comparing the output voltage and output current of the synchronous generator with a measured value of the output current of the AVR and the pattern data, estimates a rotor temperature before correction through predetermined processing, and corrects the temperature according to the output of the temperature detector 6.
