Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately execute construction work without a mistake in number or the like by specifying an optical fiber number in a position of Fresnel reflection of an OTDR waveform and leaving the waveform as a reference waveform in a background to perform comparison with the reference waveform during connection work when cutting an optical fiber in an optical splitter lower part.SOLUTION: A PON connection work method comprises in order: a reference waveform acquisition step of acquiring a waveform of back scattering light (hereafter, called reference waveform) when outputting pulse light from a center side to a subscriber side in a PON; a recording step of cutting one of optical fibers on the subscriber side and recording a peak of the reference waveform and an identification number of the cut optical fiber on the subscriber side in association with each other; and a connection display step of connecting the cut optical fiber on the subscriber side to a new optical splitter, acquiring a waveform of back scattering light after the connection (hereafter, called measurement waveform), and displaying the reference waveform and the identification number recorded in the recording step, together with the measurement waveform.
