Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a substituted methylamine compound which is useful for an intermediate for agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, in a good yield and at a low cost; and to provide an intermediate for producing the same.SOLUTION: A hexamethlylene tetraammonium salt compound represented by formula (I) (wherein A represents an organic group, which is selected from hydrocarbons and heterocyclic groups, or the organic group having substituents, and R represents a hydrogen atom, an organic group which is selected from hydrocarbons and heterocyclic groups, or the organic group having substituents) is reacted with an base to gain an N-methylidene substituted methylamine polymer represented by formula (II) (wherein A and R are the same as the definition above, and n is an integer of 2-20).
