Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric booster which improves manufacturing efficiency.SOLUTION: In this electric booster, when a shaft member 20 (piston propulsion member) is moved by driving an electric motor 6 from an initial position for non-braking to a position immediately before a hydraulic pressure generation position, the flange 21 of the shaft member 20 comes into contact with a return spring 24 to apply predetermined resistance to the shaft member 20. The predetermined resistance is detected by a current value of an electric motor 6 to detect that a piston 4 of a master cylinder 3 has reached the hydraulic pressure generation position. No rotational position sensor, such as a resolver, for detecting rotational displacement of the electric motor 6 is required, thereby improving manufacturing efficiency of the electric booster.
