Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device that can achieve higher accuracy of polarization measurements.SOLUTION: The solid-state image pickup device comprises: an imaging substrate with a plurality of pixels formed on the upper surface; an imaging lens, disposed above the imaging substrate, in which an optical axis intersects with the upper surface of the imaging substrate; a microlens array substrate, disposed between the imaging substrate and the imaging lens, in which a surface on which multiple microlenses are two-dimensionally arranged intersects with the optical axis; and a polarizing plate array substrate, disposed between the imaging substrate and the imaging lens, in which multiple kinds of polarizing plates with mutually-different directions of polarizing axes are two-dimensionally arranged. Light polarized by one of the polarizing plates is collected by one of the microlenses so as to be imaged on the upper surface of the imaging substrate.
