Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary device for elevator repair work which can suppress working hours of repair work, and to provide a method for repairing an elevator.SOLUTION: The auxiliary device 10 for the elevator repair work rotates a sheave 23 around which a wire rope 7 is wound to move a car 5 up and down which is connected with the wire rope 7. The auxiliary device 10 for the elevator repair work includes: a gripping mechanism 13 for engaging with the sheave 23; a motor 11 for rotating the gripping mechanism 13 to rotate the sheave 23 engaging with the gripping mechanism 13; a coupling member 15 for coupling the motor 11 with the gripping mechanism 13 to allow each rotary shaft to be shifted, and for transmitting torque of the motor 11 to the gripping mechanism 13; and an operation switch 17 for operating the motor 11 to rotate the sheave 23 engaged with the gripping mechanism 13 via the coupling member 15.
