Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that, when an alkaline storage battery is left for a long period of time without being charged or discharged, a charging voltage is shifted to a higher voltage side and a partial charge/discharge control circuit is apt to determine erroneously that an SOC of the alkaline storage battery has reached the upper limit.SOLUTION: An alkaline storage battery houses an electrode group obtained by laminating a sintered nickel positive electrode and negative electrode containing a nickel hydroxide as a main positive electrode active material via a separator in a container together with an alkaline electrolyte. The nickel hydroxide contains 6 to 10 mol% of yttrium, and the length of a c axis of the nickel hydroxide is constantly 4.65 or more.
