Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single tub type molten metal retaining furnace for low pressure casting, suitable for suppression of cleanliness degradation in a molten metal.SOLUTION: The molten metal retaining furnace for low pressure casting includes: a furnace body 10 for retaining the molten metal; the stalks 20 for pouring the molten metal in a die provided above the furnace body 10; and a molten metal feeding port 30 and a feeding chute 31 for receiving the molten metal in the furnace body 10 from a melting furnace. The molten metal retained in the furnace body is pushed up through the stalk 20 by the pressure of a pressurized gas to be filled in a die cavity. A partition wall 16 which partially surrounds a hearth 14 of a region approaching the lower end of the stalk 20, stands from the hearth 14 and partitions the lower layer region of the retained molten metal, is provided on the hearth 14 of the peripheral area along the furnace wall 15 of the furnace body 10. Further, an open channel 17 which goes around along the furnace wall 15 from the outlet of the feeding chute 31 is formed by the partition wall 16 and furnace wall 15.
