Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect registration misalignment or skew deviation without carrying out a complicated computation process in each of photoconductors 1Y, M, C, K for Y, M, C, K colors, respectively, upon forming a misalignment detection pattern image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a control device and a rotational attitude detection sensor 309K that detects a predetermined rotational angle attitude of a photoconductor 1K for K color. The control device is configured: to start to form a positional misalignment detection pattern image at a trigger timing when the predetermined rotational angle attitude of the photoconductor 1K is detected by the rotational attitude detection sensor 309K in a process of reducing misalignment to reduce color misalignment caused by overlap misalignment of each color; and then to execute computation of a correction value to reduce the color misalignment, on the basis of the timing when a plurality of position detection images in the positional misalignment detection pattern image is detected and on the basis of preliminarily stored correction values. |
