PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method of manufacturing a water-absorbing polymer, and especially to provide improved drying of an aqueous polymer gel generated during the method.SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the water-absorbing polymer in which a monomer solution is polymerized, and the obtained hydrogel is dried by using a gas flow that has been warmed solves the problem, wherein the method executes the drying in at least two temperature zone regions respectively, the gas introduction temperatures in the temperature zone regions meet a condition that Tis not equal to T, and index n and a are integers that are larger than 0, and/or the gas flow is made to flow to the hydrogel from under the front portion of a belt dryer and from upper the backward portion of the dryer, the reversal of the flow is performed at 15-45 mass% of the water content of the hydrogel, and/or the gas flow is made to flow to the hydrogel layer in the dryer at least partially from under, and the gas velocity is 5-30% of the gas velocity necessary so that the hydrogel may part from the belt.
