Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prodrug comprised of an amino acid bonded to a medicament or drug having a hydroxy, amino, carboxy or acylating derivative thereon.SOLUTION: The invention is directed to the prodrug having the same utility as the drug from which it is made, but having enhanced therapeutic properties. The drug or medicament useful contains functional groups thereon that permit the drug to react with and form a covalent bond with the amino acid. Examples of functional groups present on the drugs include NH2, OH, COOH or acid derivatives thereof, such as esters, amides and the like.
