Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press machine the top dead center position of which is accurately detected in a simple manner.SOLUTION: A control device 40 of the press machine has a top dead center detection unit 44 which detects the top dead center by moving a slide positioned at a prescribed position on one of the forward-rotation side and the reverse-rotation side of a main shaft to the other side over the top dead center-side so as to reach the same position as the above slide position, and by moving the slide again from the position on the other side to the forward-rotation side by an amount equal to one half of the pulse number output from an angle detector during the above movement.
