Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for constructing a free gradient side gutter which eliminates work time and invert curing time without the need for casting an invert in place and which especially eliminates a limited traffic closure in the case of laying a side gutter by crossing the road in the width direction so as to facilitate construction and reduce cost.SOLUTION: A required side gutter top face gradient and a water channel gradient in a water channel in a side gutter are predetermined and a side gutter unit 4 or an invert unit 5 which is of division and connection type so as to have a determined gradient at the time of connection is produced in a factory in advance. On a construction site the new or existing side gutter unit 4 and the new invert unit 5 are connected to form a plurality of box-shaped side gutter units, while the box-shaped side gutter units are connected in the longitudinal direction, so that the side gutter with a required gradient is constructed.
