Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an optical connector which can easily remove a coating of an insertion optical fiber by a coating removal portion.SOLUTION: An optical connector 100 includes: a base member 51 and an opening guide 50 which form a guiding structure for guiding a tip end portion of an insertion optical fiber 1 in a closed state; a coating removal portion 31 for removing the coating of the tip end portion of the insertion optical fiber which is guided to move forward by the guiding structure; and a clamp portion 20 capable of gripping and fixing an abutting portion of a bare optical fiber 3 from which the coating is removed and a built-in optical fiber 12 built in a ferrule 10. While the bare optical fiber and the built-in optical fiber are made to abut on each other, the opening guide 50 is separated from the base member 51 to form a space for permitting the deflective deformation of the insertion optical fiber 1.
