Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire electric discharge machining method capable of reducing a machining time in coreless machining.SOLUTION: This wire electric discharge machining method performs coreless machining for gradually forming a core part of a machining object into a sludge-like shape by a wire electric discharge machine to remove the core part from the machining object. The wire electric discharge machining method includes: a first machining step of performing machining in a first machining path including a first machining route approaching nearly vertically to a target contour from the inside, a second machining route advancing along the target contour following the first machining route, and a third machining route receding nearly vertically to the inside from the target contour following the second machining route in a plurality of respective partial regions obtained by dividing an annular edge region adjacent to a finish machining margin in the core part in accordance with offset in accordance with a wire diameter and a discharge gap; and a second machining step of performing machining in a second path along the target contour in the finish machining margin.
