Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder composition for manufacturing an electrode of an energy storage device, capable of providing sufficient binding force even with a small amount thereof, without causing an environmental contamination problem.SOLUTION: A binder composition of the present invention includes galactomannan as a major component, and sufficient binding force can be obtained even with a considerably small amount thereof, as compared to conventional binders. When the binder composition is used to manufacture an energy storage device having the same weight as that manufactured using the conventional binders, a greater amount of an active material can be contained. Consequently, beneficial effects such as improvement in an energy density as well as eco-friendly characteristics are rendered.
