Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a single crystal, which can grow a high quality single crystal, and to provide a seed crystal fixing agent used in the same.SOLUTION: The backside of a seed crystal 11 is fixed on a pedestal 41 by using the seed crystal fixing agent 31. When the backside of the seed crystal 11 is fixed, the seed crystal fixing agent 31 is cured. The seed crystal fixing agent 31 includes a resin becoming a hardly-graphitized carbon by heating, and a diamond microparticle. A single crystal is grown on the seed crystal fixed on the pedestal 41.
