Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method for performing printing with high image quality on a non-absorbable base material which is a flexible packaging material by using a printing process using ink jet recording ink without damaging flexibility of the flexible packaging material.SOLUTION: In the image forming method, a printing layer is formed on an ink jet receiving layer formed on the surface of the flexible packaging material by using aqueous ink jet recording ink including a pigment and resin, and an adhesive layer is formed on the printing layer. Then, by laminate processing for laminating molten or film-shaped polymer, a sealant film layer is formed. Film thickness of the flexible packaging material and film thickness of the receiving layer are defined within a specific range.
