Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform highly accurate machining without causing no exfoliation when wire tension is increased, in a wire for electric discharge machining for the purpose of machining in a specific direction such as one direction.SOLUTION: The wire 10 for electric discharge machining has a discharge region A and a non-discharge region B that are continuous in the wire longitudinal direction on the wire surface. The non-discharge region is formed of an insulation layer 12 which has a thickness of 0.1-6 μm and a Shore D hardness of 60-90 and is obtained by mixing or by being mixed with the chemical bonding of a hard segment and a soft segment where the hard segment is composed of thermosetting resins such as a phenol resin, an epoxy resin, and a polyimide resin, and the soft segment is composed of elastomers that are homogeneous or heterogeneous with thermosetting resins such as a polyvinylbutyral resin, an epoxy resin, a polyimide resin, a polyamide resin, and SEBS. |
