Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper separator, an image reader and an image forming device having the same, capable of adjusting pressing force of a separation member to the separating-rotating member side with a simple constitution.SOLUTION: An end part of a compression spring 23 is supported by a support member 24 forming a plurality of support surfaces. The support member 24 can be installed in a plurality of different directions to an installation part 26. The compression spring 23 is supported by the different support surfaces in response to the direction of the support member 24, and a height of the support surface for supporting the compression spring 23 is made different in response to the direction of the support member 24. Thus, since the compression spring 23 can be supported by a separate support surface positioned in a different height in response to the direction only by installing the support member 24 in the plurality of different directions to the installation part 26, pressing force of a separation pad 21 to the separation roller 20 side can be adjusted with a simple constitution.
