Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a permanent magnet type rotary electric machine which eases phenomena impairing the reliability due to axial temperature distribution in the permanent magnet type rotary electric machine which is cooled through ventilation from one axial direction and thereby achieving high reliability.SOLUTION: A permanent magnet type rotary electric machine is cooled through ventilation from one axial direction and includes: a rotor 10 which multiple permanent magnets are attached in a circumferential direction and rotatably disposed; and a stator 20 disposed at the inner peripheral side of the rotor 10 so as to have a clearance 30 and having a stator iron core 21 and a stator wiring wire 22 provided at the stator iron core 21. When the rotor 10 is stopped, the magnetic flux density on the leeward side is lower than the magnetic flux density on the windward side.
