Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth retaining structure capable of preventing the buckling of a wall surface material.SOLUTION: An earth retaining structure 100 includes layers 10 each including a banking material 1, and provided in an upper-and-lower multi-layered way, the layers 10 each including a banking part 2 formed by compacting the banking material 1, a wall surface material 4 disposed on the further slope side than the banking part 2, and a geotextile 5 covering part on the slope side out of the bottom face side of the banking part 2, the slope side of the wall surface material 4 and the top surface of the banking part 2, the wall surface material 4 including a horizontal piece 4a installed approximately horizontal and a rising piece 4b rising at the end on the slope side of the horizontal piece 4a, the horizontal piece 4a and the rising piece 4b forming an intersection angle θ1 of 45-120 degrees, the layers being stepwise stacked to be set back as build up from the lower side layer to the upper side layer.
