PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus that can suppress tube clogging with ink.SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus includes a recording head 1, an ink collection part 2, a waste ink tray 5, a tube 3 for transferring the ink to the waste ink tray 5 through the bend, a tube opening/closing part capable of state switching between a first state of opening the tube 3 and a second state of closing the tube 3, a negative pressure generating source 6 located between the lowest position of the bend and the waste ink tray 5, and a control part 14. The tube 3 deforms so that the area of the section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of tube may decrease when the internal pressure changes from the first negative pressure to the second negative pressure that is larger than the first negative pressure. The control part 14 triggers an absorption operation for causing the negative pressure generating source 6 to adjust the internal pressure to the first negative pressure when the tube opening/closing part is in the first state, and after switching the tube opening/closing part into the second state, it triggers a discharge operation to cause the negative pressure generating source 6 to adjust the internal pressure to the second negative pressure.
