PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of performing operations, such as lock releasing, confirmation of the remaining amount in a fuel container and purging, even if electric power is not supplied from a power supply part connected to the fuel container and electronic appliances connected to the power supply part.SOLUTION: A fuel cell includes: a power generation part which generates electric power by supply of fuel; a fuel container which is attachably and detachably connected to the power generation part, houses the fuel and supplies the fuel to the power generation part; a power generation state detection part which detects a power generation state of the power generation part; and a fuel detection part which detects an internal state of the power generation part or the fuel container. The fuel container includes an auxiliary power supply part and a control part. The control part controls removal of the fuel container from the power supply part based on a power generation value detected by the power generation state detection part and the internal state detected by the fuel detection part.
