Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium primary battery in which discharge voltage does not drop suddenly even in the final stage of low-rate discharge, lithium does not remain at the outermost periphery, and excellent safety is ensured.SOLUTION: In the lithium primary battery, an electrode group configured by winding a negative electrode plate 2, using a lithium metal or a lithium metal alloy as a negative electrode active material, and a positive electrode plate 1 while sandwiching a separator 3 so that the negative electrode is located on the outermost periphery is enclosed in the outer casing together with an electrolytic solution. An insulator 10 without ion permeability is interposed between the outermost peripheral layer of the positive electrode plate 1 and the negative electrode plate 2 facing the outermost peripheral layer of the positive electrode plate 1 on the inside of winding.
