Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resistance-heating fixing device capable of detecting the occurrence of abnormal heat generation without missing, when the abnormal heat generation occurs.SOLUTION: The fixing device which presses a pressure roller 53 to the circumferential surface of a fixing belt 51 having a resistance heating element layer 512, to form a nip part N and allows a recording sheet S on which an unfixed image is formed to pass through the nip part N, to thermally fix the unfixed image includes an external power source 500 supplying power to the resistance heating element layer 512, drive means revolving and driving the fixing belt 51, a control part 60 controlling the supply state of the power, and a temperature sensor 57 detecting the occurrence of the abnormal heat generation, so as to cover all heat generation areas in the circumferential surface of the fixing belt 51, while the fixing belt 51 is revolved and driven. The control part 60 stops the supply of the power to the resistance heating element layer 512, when an abnormal heat generation part is detected by the temperature sensor 57.
