Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metallic separator material for a fuel cell allowing high corrosion resistance to be achieved even if the thickness of an Au coating layer on the surface of a stainless steel sheet is small.SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a metallic separator material for a fuel cell, an Au coating layer having a thickness of 20 nm or smaller is formed on the surface of a substrate 2 made of an austenitic stainless steel sheet, with an Au plating bath having a pH of 1.0 or lower. Electroplating is applied while ultrasonic vibration is applied to the substrate and/or the Au plating bath.
