Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric type expansion valve using a valve body of simple structure that can raise the accuracy for controlling the flow rate in the small flow rate region.SOLUTION: A step drive controller 111 selectively switches between a decompression expansion mode in which a refrigerant is decompressed and expanded in the low flow rate control area and a full open mode in which the valve body 53 is located at the maximum opening degree position so as to maximize the flow rate of the refrigerant circulating through a refrigerant passage 51a, on the basis of a valve opening degree command from an air conditioner controller 101. In the decompression expansion mode, the flow rate of the refrigerant is controlled by displacing the valve body 53 by micro-step driving of a motor part 55, which is a stepping motor. When mode switching between the decompression expansion mode and full open mode, the valve body 53 is displaced by full step driving of the motor part 55.
