Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compute a proper white balance adjustment factor.SOLUTION: An endoscope processor 20 includes a digital signal processor (DSP) 23 and an input unit 27. When a white balance initializing operation is inputted into the input unit 27, the DSP 23 performs white balance initializing processing. The DSP 23 displays an outer edge of a target region on a real-time moving image in the white balance initializing processing. In addition, the DSP 23 determines whether or not an identification mark is included in the target region of an image corresponding to an image signal transmitted from an image pickup element 43. When the identification mark is included in the target region, the DSP 23 computes R and B gains by using the image signal.
