Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable, in the mixed presence of light emitting particles differing in luminance in a sample solution subjected to scanning molecule counting that uses light measurement with a confocal microscope or a multi-photon microscope, the concentrations or the presence ratios of the particles to be determined.SOLUTION: According to a technique of detecting and analyzing light from a light emitting particle, the intensities of light from a light detection area of an optical system of a microscope are detected while shifting the position of the light detection area of the optical system in a sample solution by varying the optical path of the optical system in a microscope, signals of light from light emitting particles are thereby individually detected, and the concentration or concentrations or the presence ratio or ratios of at least one of the light emitting particles contained in the sample solution and differing in luminance from one another is or are determined on the basis of the distribution of occurrence frequencies of light intensity of the signals of light from the detected light emitting particles.
