Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin for a retardation film and a resin composition for a retardation film capable of providing a retardation film which is superior in flexibility, can easily increase birefringence, enables melt extrusion molding, has smaller phase difference as a measurement wavelength is shorter, and has larger phase difference as the measurement wavelength is longer, to provide a method of manufacturing the retardation film which is superior in transparency and surface smoothness using the resin or the resin composition, and to provide the retardation film having the above-described properties.SOLUTION: A cellulose acetate propionate resin (composition) having a specific substituent is changed into a film by a specific method such as melt extrusion molding method, by performing a drawing method or the like in some cases, thereby obtaining the retardation film.
