Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that can reduce the time required for auto-focusing, in which a user can control the usability such as the time a battery can last or the easiness of framing.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a subject distance calculation part 6 for calculating the subject distance based on two images generated by image signals converted by imaging elements 2; and a focal point detection part 7 for detecting a focal point based on a contrast evaluation value of the subject in the image. The focal point detection part 7 is configured so that a pre-input mode for performing at least rough-focusing drive in a state that the user does not input an imaging operation start instruction in an input part, and a post-input mode for performing rough-focusing drive after the user inputs the imaging operation start instruction in the input part can be switched. |
