PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting a scent which has a high taste.SOLUTION: The method for selecting the scent to be given to a product includes: a step (S1) of acquiring information about the attribute of a subject; a step (S3) of acquiring information about the relevance between a scent which recollects the memory of the subject's own past and the memory of the past without allowing the subject to smell the scent; a step (S4) of acquiring information for specifying the scent which recollects the past memory; and a step (S5) of, with the relevance between the scent which recollects the memory of the past and the memory of the past as an index, on the basis of the information acquired in the S3, extracting a scent having the high relevance between the scent which recollects the memory of the past and the memory of the past, and determining the extracted scent as the scent having a high taste to the subject having the attribute information acquired in the S1.
